Austin Langenstein Takes points lead with masterful drive! 6/17/09 Concord, N.C. Round 2 of the 2009 Summer Shoot had its share of thrills and spills. Austin Langenstein, driving his FIREFOLD. Com #7 Bandolero had to race his way from his 17th place starting spot to an impressive 2nd place finish in Round 2 of the Summer Shoot-Out Series at the Lowes Motor Speedway on Tuesday night. With Rain in the area for the second straight week the program was forced to move swiftly and the starting lineup determined by the electronic draw. At the green Austin began his march to the front. By lap 3 of the 20 lap feature Austin was racing well into the top 10. With quick race moves and a fast car Austin moved into the top 5 by lap10 and then set his sights on the lead pack. With the aid of a few cautions and the single file restarts, Austin moved quickly into the 2nd place position and set his sights on race leader Matt Linker (who started 3rd). A green, white checkered ended the 20 lap main event with Austin attached to the rear bumper of Linker. Matt Linker from Mount Pleasant, N.C. Went on to capture his first win of the 09 shootout with Austin Langenstein a very close 2nd. It was tough starting so far back tonight knowing that a few of the competitors had better starting positions but I had to make up time quickly with the weather moving in, stated Langenstein. With this 2nd place finish (2 in a row) this now moves Austin into the points lead with 8 more weeks of racing left. The points lead is nice but I am going to try and focus on the bigger picture and keep racing hard. There are still a lot of laps yet to be run. We will do our homework and continue to make our car better. The competition is tough this season and I want to take each week at a time reflects Austin. Evan Bell (last week’s winner) from Atlanta, GA. finished 3rd in this torrid battle. Austin cannot thank his marketing partners enough for all of the help he has received thus far.
