Langenstein rock solid during
week 7 at the shoot-out!

Week 7 at the
Lowes Motor Speedway during the summer shoot-out Series proved to be
rock solid for young Austin Langenstein.
After winning his
heat race driving the potent #7 FIREFOLD.COM bandolero earlier in
the evening with a dominate performance Austin was poised for
another steady run in the evening’s feature event.
Starting 3rd
in the 24 car field Austin quickly jumped into the lead. Taking
command for the first 7 laps, Austin was strong leading the pack and
setting a torrid pace.
On lap 8 the
caution flew for the first time for a 2 car tangle involving Casey
Hillingburg and Andrew Brown.
On the restart 2
time winner Matt Linker and points’ leader Justin Carroll lined up
behind Langenstein. When the green flew Austin took command until
lap 10 when Linker passed Langenstein out of turn 2. Linker,
Langenstein and Carroll broke free from the rest of the pack and
raced each other hard. On lap 12 Carroll than slipped under Austin
for 2nd dropping Langenstein to 3rd.
At the finish it
was Matt Linker scoring the victory with Justin Carroll and Austin
Langenstein nose to tail over the finish line.
“During the first
run I knew that I might be in trouble later in the event, Austin
said. “ My race car was getting a little tight up off the corners as
the run went on so I changed up my corner entry line and braking
zones to accommodate the race car better. It helped. But when you
use the brakes to help turn the car it slows down your momentum.
With competition like Linker and Carroll behind you, it is never
good to use your brakes”, Austin concluded.
Justin Carroll
leads Austin by 10 points with 3 races remaining in the series.
“It is “GO” time;
we will learn our lessons from this evening and start to apply our
plan that we have in place to secure this championship. It is
Justin’s to lose and mine to win”, noted Langenstein.
