Well How About That? - GPS System for Customer Service Improvement Nets Fuel Savings

Many companies are using GPS (Global Positioning Systems) to improve customer service, provide real time tracking and improve customer responsiveness.

But there can be additional, unexpected benefits.

Battleground Tire & Wrecker Service, Inc. in Burlington, NC installed a GPS system in early 2008 for the Customer Service related reasons above.  To their happy surprise, they found the fuel cost savings that resulted from reduced idling, better road speed management and other operation improvements have been great enough to repay the original system investment.

Learn more about this pleasant surprise in our feature article on the TruckSavvy.com Home Page.

Eco Friendly Productivity, Efficiency and Safety - Stertil Koni Expands Environmentally Intelligent Lift Offerings

Stertil-Koni USA, Inc. has announced a new product designed to significantly reduce energy consumption and environmental impact of mobile lifting equipment.

The EARTHLIFT adds to Stertil Koni's line of "Envirionmentally Intelligent" lifts and creates a new category:  "Green Mobile Lifts"

In a departure from traditional heavy duty lift designs; the EARTHLIFT is engineered to use the weight of the vehicle it has lifted, to recharge its batteries with each lowering cycle. The lift's unique self-regeneration technology, resembling that used in today's advanced hybrid vehicles, has led to a 50% increase in the total battery operating life.

The EARTHLIFT joins the previously announced SKYLIFT and ECOLIFT in helping companies and municipalities earn EED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for their buildings.

To learn more about the EARTHLIFT and the entire Stertil Koni line of Environmentally Intelligent lifts, go to TruckSavvy.com Cool Stuff and click on Stertil-Koni.

Simple, just go to TruckSavvy.com Online Training and click on Stemco Onsite Training.  Then click on the Sales Reps link and send an e-mail to request the help you need.

Or you can click on the Schedule a TQM Clinic link and fill out the online form.

And If You Don’t… - Tanker Wheel Fire Video

Need a graphic example of the importance of quality maintenance?

Check out the Wheel Fire Video on TruckSavvy.com Safety page.

According to the announcer, this fire could started from an overheated wheel/brake.

Makes a pretty strong case for vigilant wheel end maintenance and automated brake stroke warning systems.

This could be a great starter for your next training meeting.

To view the video, go to TruckSavvy.com Quick Clicks, click on Safety, then click on the camera icon under Tanker Wheel Fire Videos.
